Confused by what beats what in poker? Check below for a list of all poker hands ranked from best to worst. Still confused after? Drop a question in the comments and we'll be happy to help you out.
Royal Flush | A straight from a ten to an ace with all five cards of the same suit. In poker all suits are ranked equally.
Straight Flush | Any straight with all five cards of the same suit.
Four of a Kind | Any four cards of the same rank. If two players share the same Four of a Kind, the bigger fifth card (known as the kicker) decides who wins the pot.
Full House | Any three cards of the same rank together with any two cards of the same rank. Our example shows "Aces full of Kings" and it is a bigger full house than "Kings full of Aces."
Flush | Any five cards of the same suit (not consecutive). The highest card of the five determines the rank of the flush. Our example shows an Ace-high flush, which is the highest possible.
Straight | Any five consecutive cards of different suits. Aces can count as either a high or a low card. Our example shows a five-high straight, which is the lowest possible straight.
Three of a Kind | Any three cards of the same rank. Our example shows three-of-a-kind Aces, with a King and a Queen as side cards - the best possible three of a kind.
Two Pair | Any two cards of the same rank together with another two cards of the same rank. Our example shows the best possible two-pair, Aces and Kings. The highest pair of the two determines the rank of the two-pair.
One Pair | Any two cards of the same rank. Our example shows the best possible one-pair hand.
High Card | Any hand not in the above-mentioned hands. Our example shows the best possible high-card hand. |

2010-12-14At a radar site in northern Japan, six of my friends were playing five-card draw--nothing wild. I was dealt four cards to a spade royal flush. The betting was 25/50 cent size. I drew one card and HIT. As the betting went around the table, everybody but one dropped. Their comments: "Your eyes rolled up, your face turned red and your ears started to flop". The one guy remaining called the 25-cent bet with the comment: "I had to see it--couldn't let you bluff!" When I dropped the cards, the entire table stood and let out a whoop...! (Guess this is my lone moment of fame!!!)

2010-11-28i had a straight flush using my two cards and the community hand ended up being all the same suite. My opponent had a king and jack of a different suit. I say i won because i was using one of my cards to make a straight flush and he says he won because he is using the community hand as a flush , which would be a draw between us both and he will use his king high as the kicker.

2010-11-03ok. we are playing this contest. Jokers are wild we have 4 twos and a joker. Is there such a thing as 5 of a kind when Jokers are wild? Would it have to be 4 of a kind with an Ace as the Kicker?
What would happen if someone had 3 8s and a joker. and a Jack as a kicker. Would they win because they have a higher 4 of a kind? or would our true 4 of a kind win?
